WIFOMA Community Forest Association (WIFOMA CFA) is delighted to be identified as one of the beneficiaries of the Green Zones Development Support Project – Phase III, which is set to extend its interventions to Homa Bay County by January 2027.
Today, WIFOMA CFA had the privilege of hosting a delegation from the Green Zones Development Support Project at our offices, accompanied by the County Forest Conservator and the Station Manager, Wire Forest Station.
The visit provided an important opportunity for engagement, consultation and exploration of potential areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening forest conservation, protecting critical natural resources and improving the livelihoods of communities around Wire Forest.
A day on the ground
Alongside discussions at the WIFOMA CFA office, the delegation walked through restoration areas on the slopes of Wire Hill and visited farms around the forest, meeting members and the Kenya Forest Service rangers who work with the association to protect Wire Forest.
What comes next
As the project prepares to reach Homa Bay County, WIFOMA CFA looks forward to continued engagement with the Green Zones team, the County Forest Conservator and Kenya Forest Service, to shape interventions that work for Wire Forest and for the people who live beside it.
The Green Zones Development Support Project is implemented by Kenya Forest Service with support from the African Development Bank Group.
